This is my hay sled. It’s a huge inflatable ‘tube’ for sledding for the grandkids but it works perfectly to transport bales of hay to the sheep out in the pastures. The bales weigh about 50 pounds each and trying to carry them and wade thru waist-deep snow is too difficult, so I came up with this.

The downside is that every time the grandkids take the sled out to go up on the hill to slide, the sheep run to the fence and start baaaaing and bellowing like crazy. They get so mad when the hay-sled goes the other way with kids on it!

Early this morning I went out to do the chores and found Toffee, our moorit, with twins. One totally black and one a jacob. Obviously, Trubadour jumped the fence that day. This is a little ram, which will make a wonderful wether for a spinners flock. I’m naming him Ono (or Oh, no!!) Toffee is not a particulary good mother– she makes the noises, but is not licking them nor is trying to nudge them to eat.

I got them dried off and the heating lamp on them. Then I got the lambing pen set up and moved all 3 into it. Toffee immediately tried to get out, but I shoved her back in and nailed the panels to the wall.

Brandon is still in Utah and is due back tonight. Won’t he be surprised! And disappointed, as Toffee is one of our 3 registered moorits and her babies, if moorit, would be worth about $400 each. These babies, being ‘mixed breeds’ are only worth about $50 each.
