coyote.jpgYesterday Poto was at the gate in the morning. In the afternoon she was not in the herd. I tromped thru the woods, all over the pasture, followed the fence lines and called and called. It started raining and snowing. The snow in in the woods is up past my knees and it was hard going. Not one sound did I hear.

Last night I went out with the flashlight in the freezing rain & sleet. No Poto.  There are tons of tracks but unfortunatly goat tracks look just like deer tracks and we have a ton of deer around.

This morning I went out again at 6am to 10am, looking & looking. I am soaked, cold, miserable.  I cannot find her. I called all the neighbors to be on the lookout and found out that the coyotes were out in back of our place 2 nights ago and had gotten a deer.  I am afraid they also have gotten Poto.  The coyotes can walk/jump right over the fences as the snow is so high. My gun is loaded and at the back door. I’ll leave all the barn lights on tonight.  I hate this part of farming.
