Wilden’s Last Day

Today was Wilden’s last day. He’s been getting progressively weaker and it was harder & harder for him to breathe. We had one final week of cheese, raw hamburger, chicken soup and ice cream.
Brandon took him up to Gary Wheeler at Bridgton Vet. Wilden is one of Gary’s longest patients. After he went peacefully to sleep, we wrapped him in his blanket and buried him on a little knoll in the pasture under a little tree.
It was the right thing to do for him—terribly hard for us, but we had to do it out of respect for the 12 years of unconditional love & joy this #1 son has brought to our lives.
Goodbye my sweet boy. My heart is breaking but I know you’re not hurting now. Remember what we said to you every night — “Who’s the Best Boy? You are! You Are!” You were truly the best boy ever and we’ll miss you forever….
