Murphy our border collie from Ireland cannot work the sheep. His ‘eye’ is too intense and he attacks them to make them move. He cannot be trusted. So we have Homer the bottle baby in a dog crate in the pantry and Murphy spends his days laying in front of the crate making sure Homer doesn’t escape. Every time I call Murphy away, he lunges at the crate & barks and snaps at it, frightening poor Homer terribly. When Homer comes out for play & feeding, Murphy must go outside, where he sits by the door & barks thru the plate glass sliders at Homer running around. Just another piece of chaos on the Woolley Farm.

Our vet tech & Friend Missy had 3 roosters and they were fighting & ganging up on this guy, so we agreed to take him. Meet Rooster Cogburn, a beautiful boy who arrived last Sunday. He has just 1 feather left on his butt, making him look absurd, but he’s having a wonderful time with ‘the girls’ and it’s great to hear him cockadoodling in the barn in the morning. I can’t wait for his tail feathers to grow back.

The lambs are going nuts in the barn, but it’s too snowy to put them out in the pastures yet (yes, Royal, I know you’ve had yours out for 2 months!!). They jump so high & twist in the air and are a riot to watch. Brandon hung up a blanket over the spaces in the barn wall to keep the wind out of the pens and the lambs love racing behind it and hiding, then the ones still in the pen try to find them. Lamb hide & seek. Gillian in Vt misses the babies, so I’m dedicating these pics to her.
And here’s Homer & I with the baby bottles for Mac & Tosh’s noon feeding.

Not in Baldwin Maine as evidenced by the blizzard we’ve had for the past 3 days. Got 16″ of snow. Power lines down all over the state but we’re still connected. Lots of accidents for Brandon to drive the fire truck too. Yes, I know in Ireland there are primroses out in the meadow by Karen’s new house in Bonane and Jo is taking pics of all the birds & flowers in her yard. Yes, I know in Florida Ro is watching the kids go swimming in the ocean and it’s 86* on the beach. Yes, I know in NC Effie is out in shorts & tee-shirt looking at all the beautiful flowers. And Yes, I know in Maryland the cherry blossoms are out and Miss Patti is riding her horse over green grass.
Someday we shall have flowers, primroses, kids in the ocean, shorts, cherry blossoms and even green grass. Someday. But not this week! At least Gillian & Betty still have snow over in Vermont, so I’m not alone….
